Michigan Promise Scholarships may be reinstated
Michigan students heard bad news last fall when the proposed higher education budget did not include funding for the Michigan Promise Scholarship. This affected students in college who had already been expecting the scholarship and also those who would be entering in the future.
During her State of the State address last week, Governor Jennifer Granholm said that her 2011 budget proposal would include the Promise scholarship. She said the focus needs to be on keeping Michigan's young people in Michigan once they've grqaduated from college. All that remains is figuring out a way to pay for it.
