Sallie Mae Purchases UPromise
In a press release on June 1, UPromise announced that Sallie Mae, America’s leading education finance company, will be purchasing the Needham, Massachusetts-based UPromise. Upromise’s popular rewards service has more than 7 million members who have joined Upromise to save for college by receiving rebates when they and their families buy gas or groceries, dine out, or purchase other goods and services from more than 450 participating companies.
With the acquisition, SallieMae and UPromise should be able to offer their customers a wide ranging package of financial instruments to help pay for their college educations.
