Florida House and Senate Pass Student Financial Assistance Bill
Today the Florida House of Representatives and Senate passed HB 795, the Student Financial Assistance bill. The bill creates the First Generation Matching Grant Program which will provide financial aid to financially needy undergraduate students of a state university and whose parents have not earned a baccalaureate degree. The bill will now go to Governor Jeb Bush, who is expected to sign the measure into law. The effective date will be July 1, 2006.
