Looking for College Scholarships

High school students getting ready for college know enough to visit their guidance counselors to get information on local and national scholarships, but many may not realize that their college may have hundreds of scholarships to pass out...they just have to make sure to apply.

While updating the Alaska Scholarships page at the College Loans, Scholarships and Grants website, I happened upon a huge list of University of Alaska at Anchorage Scholarships. Students just have to fill out the online application, and for some get the FAFSA in on time, write an essay or make sure their high school transcripts are sent in. Every college has their own procedures, so make sure you check it out before you get there...then it may be too late.

UCB Inc. is once again offering the Crohn's Scholarship Program. The program will award 30 scholarships of $10,000 each for students diagnosed and kiving with Crohn's Disease. Completed applications must be postmarked by February 11, 2011.

If you live within 30 miles of a Cumberland Farms store, or you are the child of an employee, you may be eligible for one of the Cumberland Farms Scholarships. There will be 130 $1,000 scholarships awarded in 2011. Application must be submitted electronically by December 15, 2010.
